Portrait Practice

Description

What time is it? No, it's not Adventure Time! It's School Project Submission Time!

...I liked the first one better -.-

This project was practice with -you guessed it!- portraits. We had to choose a picture, and sketch it out on paper as close to the actual photograph as possible.

Now that, my friends, is tricky. Proportioning is probably the hardest part. I had to erase and redraw the chin and nose so many times, it wasn't funny.

Also, my teacher kept coming around to make sure we're on task, and consistently gave advice concerning shading:

"The inside of the hood needs to be darker... No, darker than that."

Five minutes later...

"Good, you fixed the lighting on the forehead! Now, this part looks too dark..."

Ten minutes later...

"Wow, I love the ripped texture on the scarf! Now, the hair needs to look softer, so lighten your shading here...."

ALDKLJGDS. Teach, I appreciate your advice and compliments, but please, TELL ME EVERYTHING THE FIRST TIME AROUND, SO I KNOW WHAT TO FIX.
